Train services resumed across the country, including in Dhaka, early Wednesday after the Bangladesh Railway running staff called off their strike.Anwar Hossain, the manager of Kamalapur Railway Station, said that seven trains departed from the station starting in the early hours of the day. The first train, the intercity Dhumketu Express bound for Rajshahi, left Kamalapur at 6:30 am.However, many passengers were unaware that the strike had been canceled, which was announced late Tuesday night. As a result, several trains departing in the morning had many empty seats. Despite this, passengers expressed relief at the resumption of services. From Rajshahi Station, the following trains departed: the Sagardari Express for Khulna at 6:10 am, the Madhumati Express for Dhaka at 6:50 am, the Bonlota Express at 7:35 am, and the Silk City Express at 7:50 am.The running staff had called for a work stoppage demanding that their running allowance be included in their basic salary for pension and gratuity benefits. As a result, train departures from stations, including Kamalapur in the capital, were halted from midnight on Monday, and services remained suspended on Tuesday, causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.

The strike was called off after railway authorities assured the staff that their demands would be addressed by Wednesday. Following a meeting at the residence of Railway Ministry Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan late Tuesday night, the Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Workers Employees Union announced the withdrawal of the strike at 2:30 am on Wednesday.
