
At least 42 shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at the Muripotti area of Madhabdi Bazar in Narsingdi early Friday (July 4),However, no casualties in this incident were reported.According to the Fire Service, the fire began around 5:00am, reportedly from a gold jewellery shop, and quickly spread to nearby stores. Five firefighting units from Madhabdi, Narsingdi, and Palash rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control by 6:30am after an hour and a half of effort.Md Raihan, Station Officer at Madhabdi Fire Service, said the blaze likely started due to an electrical short circuit. He said, “The fire damaged 14 grocery shops, 11 gold and jewellery shops, 9 electrical and plastic stores, 5 stationery shops, and 3 other shops. Many stores were small and partitioned, and most jewellery shops had gas cylinders inside.”
