Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar on Thursday claimed that an international conspiracy is underway to rehabilitate the Awami League, asserting that new narratives are being crafted to create space for the party in elections. He made these remarks at a discussion meeting titled "The Role of Journalists in the July Student-Public Uprising", jointly organized by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), held at the National Press Club auditorium.“Various rhetorics are being introduced to open international doors in Bangladesh with the intention of rehabilitating the Awami League. This conspiracy is being carried out by using the people of this country and certain political parties,” Parwar said.
He added: “Debates have emerged among political parties centring on reforms. Political parties speaking out on different issues do not necessarily mean they are against elections or want to delay them.”
He also said: “When topics are up for discussion, debates and new arguments can naturally follow.”
Referring to the fall of the Awami League government, he said: “The misrule of the Awami League is over, Hasina is gone. But there is no room for self-satisfaction or relief.”
He added: “Although Hasina as an individual has left, agents of fascism remain deeply embedded within the administration, judiciary, police, and constitutional institutions.”
“So, even if one fascist is gone, fascism itself has not left the country. Those who uphold fascist ideology are still present—and they are the biggest obstacle to building a new Bangladesh,” he said.
