Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Saturday said that efforts are underway through Interpol to repatriate ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, following a formal government application. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the immigration system at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday afternoon, he clarified that Interpol operates under international law, not government directives.“Interpol will act according to their regulations,” Chowdhury said, emphasising the ongoing process. Addressing protests demanding a ban on the Awami League, he urged demonstrators to hold rallies in designated areas to minimise public disruption, noting that emergency vehicles like ambulances remain operational.“Journalists can help raise awareness to reduce public suffering,” he added, acknowledging the protesters’ shifting demands without labelling them unreasonable.
