Form resistance in every neighbourhood against extortionists:Sadik Kayem

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s Central Secretary for Publications and Literature, Sadik Kayem, called on students nationwide to build mass resistance in every neighbourhood against criminals and extortionists, assuring full support from Chhatra Shibir. He also said that those who try to bring back the politics of subjugation will face a worse fate than Hasina and Chhatra League. He made these comments on Saturday, at a protest rally in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital following a procession.

The protest was organized by the Dhaka South City unit of Chhatra Shibir in protest against extortion across the country.

The procession started in front of Jagannath University, passed through Tanti Bazar intersection, and concluded with a brief rally in front of Mitford Hospital.

Sadik Kayem said: "After the July uprising, when we tried to realize the martyrs’ dream of a just and discrimination-free Bangladesh, those who claim to be an open political party were seen engaging in open acts of criminality across the country. We saw them committing extortion in public, carrying out mass rapes, and killing our brothers with stones like in the days of ignorance."He added that on October 28, 2006, Hasina’s Awami League killed their brothers in broad daylight.

"Now, a so-called political party is trying to enjoy the taste of power by stoning people to death. As long as the generation of July is alive, we will not allow their dreams to be realized."

Central Office Secretary Sibgatullah Sibga said: "Yesterday (Friday) in Mitford, criminals killed my brother to spread fear among us. There is no rural area, market, or business establishment in this country where they have not committed extortion. Just as the people of Bangladesh have ousted fascist Hasina, they will oust the extortionists in the same manner."

President of the Dhaka South City unit of Chhatra Shibir, Helal Uddin, said: "The July uprising marked the end of Awami ignorance. But now we are witnessing the rise of nationalist ignorance. The students and masses of the 2024 uprising remain vigilant. If you cannot rein in the criminals, the student masses will take to the streets to resist you."
