Existing political parties lack trust in rebuilding country: Nahid

National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam on Thursday said as they could not trust the existing political parties in rebuilding the country, they had to form a new party.“It’s our dream to rebuild this country a new after the mass uprising. If it had been possible to rebuild the country under the leadership of existing parties, we would not have needed to form a new political party. But we couldn't trust political parties,” he said.Nahid was addressing a street rally in Mukta Mancha area in Narail district town.NCP has been holding a nationwide July March programme demanding justice, reforms and a new constitution since July 1 and will continue till July 29.

“The political parties were busy for power and seat sharing. They do not want to acknowledge the mass uprising. They think that this mass uprising took place for a change of power. But we think that this mass uprising took place for the reconstruction of the country and for the formation of a prosperous Bangladesh,” said Nahid.

Urging the people to have faith in the NCP, he said, "We always want to work for your rights. We want to make Bangladesh a powerful country in the world. You have faith in us."

"We want no new dictatorship to be born in Bangladesh. In the future Bangladesh, you will have the right to speak, the right to rice and clothe. There will be no corruption in Bangladesh. We have formed a political party with the dream of such a Bangladesh," he said.

Stating that the martyrs and injured have not been properly respected even after a year of the mass uprising, Nahid said, "Even after a year of the mass uprising, when we did not get the Bangladesh we expected, we have come out on the streets again. You keep faith in us."
