
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin met US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer at his Washington DC office on Thursday at 11am local time. They discussed strengthening Bangladesh-US trade ties, commerce, and the ongoing tariff negotiations.Both sides pledged to work together for mutual benefit as the second day of the second round of three-day tariff talks wrapped up. The discussions covered key areas of the bilateral trade relationship and explored ways to expand market access for Bangladeshi products.
Commerce Adviser Bashir Uddin is leading the Bangladesh delegation in Washington, while National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications, Faiz Ahmed Tayeb, joined virtually from Dhaka. Senior Commerce Ministry officials also attended in person.
On the US side, senior officials from USTR, agriculture, labour, environment, treasury, innovation, and investment agencies participated. Talks resumed at 9pm Bangladesh time on Thursday and will continue on Friday.
The government hopes these negotiations will help secure fair tariff policies and boost trade opportunities for both countries.
