The Ministry of Education has said there is no logic of movement by giving ultimatum demanding university status of Government Titumir College as the government is working to establish a separate university for the seven government colleges, including Titumir College.The Ministry of Education is aware of the movement by Titumir College students demanding university status of their college and in this regard, it informs that an expert committee led by University Grants Commission, UGC, chairman is working to establish a separate university for Dhaka’s seven government colleges, with the matter of Titumir College being given special considerations, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday, February 1.The committee has already begun discussion with student representatives of the seven colleges to address the problems they raised, according to the statement.In this regard, holding protests by giving ultimatum seeking the announcement of Titumir College’s transformation into a university has no rationality. For this, everyone involved in the movement have been requested to be patient,” the statement reads.

The ministry also urged the students to refrain from holding such programmes that create sufferings to people or hamper academic activities.
