Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said the party has confidence in Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus' promise to hold the national elections either by December this year or by June next year."The Chief Adviser said he wants to hold the general election between December and June. We want to trust his words," Shafiqur said while addressing the party's Central Majlish-e-Shura session at Al Falah auditorium in Dhaka's Moghbazar on Saturday morning, May 24."He (Prof Yunus) did not take this responsibility by force, rather we assigned him. So, it is our duty to suppor him," Shafiqur said, adding that a fruitful dialogue is essential to avoid further uncertainty, and the government must do it. Stating that Jamaat-e-Islami is supporting the interim government as much as possible, he urged other political parties to cooperate with it.The Jamaat amir also noted that the party urged the interim government to convene a all-party meeting to resolve the country's ongoing crisis.
