Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, on Sunday labelled former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan as the "Butcher of Bangladesh.""He is one of the butchers who orchestrated the brutal murders of innocent children, students, workers, and rickshaw-pullers. Consider the standards of those giving him a platform, those making news out of him. This is a large international propaganda campaign. No one in the world would give a platform or interview to a butcher. Asaduzzaman is the Butcher of Bangladesh," said Shafiqul in response to a journalist's question during a press briefing organized by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road, Dhaka, on Sunday, January 26.Shafiqul made these remarks when asked about the government’s stance on Asaduzzaman Khan's interview being aired by Indian media.
When questioned whether the government would take action regarding this, he stated, "If it is a violation of the law, it will be examined legally."
