Yunus-Modi meeting likely at BIMSTEC Summit

A meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take place on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit, Special Envoy to the Chief Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman said on Wednesday.He made the statement at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital.Khalilur Rahman noted that since the Chief Adviser is set to become the next chairman of BIMSTEC, discussions with the heads of all member states are essential to outline future plans.Yunus is scheduled to depart for Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (April 3) to attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit. On the first day, he will participate in a youth conference, followed by delivering a speech at the summit the next day. He is also expected to hold sideline meetings with various heads of state. Additionally, three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements are likely to be signed during the summit.The press briefing was also attended by the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, and Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar.
