3 including imam killed in Cox’s Bazar clash

Three people, including an imam were killed in a fierce clash between two neighbours over a disputed land in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya on Sunday morning, April 6.The deceased were identified as Abdullah Al Mamun, 40, his rivals Abdul Mannan, 35, and Shahina Begum, 38, residents of Paschimpara of Kutupalong union under the upazila.Of them, Mamun was the imam of Kutupalong Bazar Jame Mosque, while Mannan and Shahina were siblings. Mohammad Ali, general secretary of Kutupalong Bazar Committee, said there had long been a dispute between two families over a boundary wall in the house.They attacked each other with locally-made sharp weapons over the matter this morning, leaving three dead on the spot, he said.Arif Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station, said the bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy after recoveringfrom the house.Legal action will be taken in this regard, he added. Source: UNB
