Iran’s CAS, IRGC chief, others Killed in Israeli Strikes

General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), along with several military and civilian figures, was killed in Israeli airstrikes in Tehran, Iran’s capital, on Friday.Iranian state media has confirmed the following individuals were killed in recent Israeli strikes: General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Hossein Salami, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Gholamali Rashid, Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Fereydoun Abbasi, nuclear scientist and former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, nuclear scientist involved in Iran’s nuclear programme.Additionally, Ali Shamkhani, senior adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been seriously injured, according to Iranian reports.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Salami was assassinated in an overnight strike. The IRGC confirmed his death in a statement later that day, vowing a strong response from the IRGC, other branches of Iran’s Armed Forces, and allied forces of the Islamic Umma against the Israeli regime.

Tasnim also reported the deaths of Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, a prominent nuclear scientist and president of Islamic Azad University, and Fereydoun Abbasi, a nuclear scientist and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, in separate Israeli strikes. Additionally, Major General Gholamali Rashid, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, was killed in the attacks.

The strikes targeted multiple locations in and around Tehran, as well as other cities across Iran. No further details were immediately available.Source: IRNA, BBC
