Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the National Export Trophy to 77 top exporters for the fiscal year 2021-22 on Sunday, to encourage and foster competition in increasing export earnings.The awards ceremony, held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium, saw trophies conferred in 32 categories for outstanding contributions to the country's export earnings and overall economy.Among the award-winning exporters, Rifat Garments Ltd, in the readymade garment (RMG) woven category, received the highest recognition, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy, for the highest export earnings in the fiscal year 2021-22.The winning exporters received gold, silver, and bronze awards: 28 firms were conferred gold awards, 27 received silver, and 21 were awarded bronze.State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu, Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministtry of Commerce Chairman Tipu Munshi, Commerce Secretary Md Selim Uddin, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman Md Anwar Hossain, and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mahbubul Alam spoke on the occasion.
Rifat Garments Ltd Director Sajid Azad expressed his feelings on winning the highest recognition, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy.
Additionally, Amrita Makin Islam, Deputy Managing Director of Picard Bangladesh, shared her sentiments on winning the gold medal for the highest export earnings in the leather and leather goods category.
A documentary on export business was screened during the function.
According to the National Export Trophy Policy-2013, the preliminary and final selection committees evaluated the export income, income growth, addition of new products, entry into new markets, and compliance to select the trophy winners for the financial year 2021-2022 from among the exporters of 30 sectors.
A total of 29 gold, 27 silver, and 21 bronze trophies were awarded to the best exporting companies in each sector. Additionally, a special trophy titled the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy (Gold) was awarded to the company with the highest export income across all sectors.
