
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a 39-day programme to mark the first anniversary of the July mass uprising, which led to the ousting of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina from power on August 5 last year.The programmes will begin on July 1 and continue till August 8.Jamaat's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar announced the programmes at a press conference held at the party's Moghbazar central office in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, June 28.The party will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on July 19 to implement its seven-point agenda, Parwar said.
Other programmes include doa (prayers) for the martyrs and injured victims of the uprising, food distribution among poor and orphans, meeting with the families of martyrs and injured victims by Jamaat leaders, , discussion meetings, and documentary exhibition on July uprising, mass processions.
