First time community anniversary event in Portugal

For the first time, the Bangladeshi community organized the Bangla New Year Festival in Nisban, the capital of Portugal. The event was organized by the 'Bangla Varshavaran Udjan Parishad' at Liton Turkish Grill, a popular restaurant and party center in the capital on Sunday. The day-long event included children's drawing competition, rhymes, costumes, song and dance performances, Panta English-filled food and band music. Thousands of expatriates including at least five hundred families from Portugal participated in the ceremony.Organizers and participants said that although the Bangladeshi community is large in Portugal, there has not been a participatory birthday ceremony before. This time everyone participated spontaneously in the first event. Portugal Bangla Press Club participated as media partner in the event. Community personality and local politician Rana Tshalim Uddin, convenor of Varsvaran Udjabar Parishad Khalilur Rahman Sagar, founder president of Portugal Bangla Press Club Rony Mohammad, spoke on the occasion.And General Secretary Shahid Ahmed (Prince), businessman. The day-long event was conducted by Shiplu Ahmed, Member Secretary of Bangla New Year Celebration Council and Advocate Russell Majumder, former central leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League, from 12 noon to 8 pm.The program started with children's drawing competition. In the mid-afternoon, the traditional panta-ilsha of Bengal and a variety of delicious bhartas are served. In the afternoon, the women's pillow game, voluntary music performance, exchange of greetings, band music program and distribution of prizes heralded the conclusion of the program.
