The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in Portugal with due religious solemnity. On Wednesday (April 10) at 8 am local time, devout Muslims including expatriate Bangladeshis offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in various places including the capital of Portugal, Lisbon and Porto city, at the initiative of the Bangladeshi community.Since the United Kingdom left the European Union, Europe's largest Eid congregation has been held in Lisbon under the management of expatriate Bangladeshis. As a continuation of this, this year's Eid Jamaat was held at Matrimanij Park in Lisbon. More than 7,000 Muslims prayed together. Eid-ul-Fitr prayers are held in Porto, the country's second largest city.Sani Imam and Khatib Maulana Helal Uddin of Islamic Center Baitul Mokarram gave the opening speech before the largest congregation in Lisbon. Imam Maulana Ala Uddin of Martim Moniz Chota Mosque delivered the sermon and prayers. After the prayer, a special prayer was offered for the Muslim Ummah of the world including Palestine.
