Following the death of Jagannath University (JnU) student Fairuz Abantika, the varsity administration suspended accused assistant proctor Deen Islam and her classmate Amman Siddique.Meanwhile, a five-member probe committee has been formed over her suicidal death.The committee has been constituted with Professor Masum Billah, dean of the faculty of Law, has been made as the convener and Himadri Shekhar, deputy registrar, as member secretary.Other members of the probe body are Social Science Department dean Prof Abul Hossain, teachers' association president Prof Jakir Hossaon and chairman of Music Department Prof Jhumur Ahmed.
VC Sadeka Halim went to the campus around 1am on Saturday and assured the protesting students to take action against the accused within seven days after investigation.
At about 10pm on Friday, Fairuz Abantika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of Law Department of the university, was found hanging at her residence in Cumilla city's Bagichagao area.
She was immediately taken to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead around 11pm.
Before her suicide, Abantika posted a suicidal note where she mentioned that her classmate Amman Siddique and assistant proctor Deen Islam would be responsible for her suicide.
