The three-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference will begin on Sunday, with a total of 353 proposals scheduled for discussion. The conference will conclude on Wednesday.
According to sources from the Cabinet Division, the division received 1,245 proposals from divisional commissioners and DCs in connection with the conference. Of these, 353 proposals will be included in the agenda for discussion. Some proposals were excluded from the agenda due to disagreements with relevant ministries and departments, or because they had already been presented at previous DC conferences.
The conference will be inaugurated at 10:30 am on Sunday at Shapla Hall in the Prime Minister's Office, where Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus will address the gathering. Following the inauguration, the Chief Adviser will engage in an open discussion with the DCs. Later in the evening, a meeting will be held with the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association, followed by a dinner with the Chief Adviser.
On the second day, in addition to formal sessions, the DCs will pay a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court. This year, there will be no courtesy meeting with the President.
During the conference, 34 working sessions will be held with various ministries and divisions at Osmani Memorial Hall. However, sessions with the Cabinet Division and the closing session will be conducted at the newly constructed Cabinet Division building at the Secretariat.
The Cabinet Division will hold a press conference on Saturday to provide further details about the DC Conference.
The DC Conference is organised annually to facilitate direct communication and exchange of views between government policymakers and the deputy and divisional commissioners, offering necessary guidance. Following the people’s uprising on August 5, this year’s conference is considered particularly significant during the interim government period.
