A total of 764 bureaucrats, who had been deprived of promotion during the Awami League regime, have been retrospectively promoted to various posts. This comes as part of a review process initiated by the interim government.Among the promoted officials: 119 have been elevated to secretary, 41 to grade-1, 528 to additional secretary, 72 to joint secretary, and 4 to deputy secretary.The Ministry of Public Administration issued five separate notifications on Sunday (February 9) confirming the promotions.According to the notifications, the promoted officials will receive half of their due financial benefits this year, with the remaining half disbursed next year.The promotions follow a December 10 report submitted by a government committee formed to assess bureaucrats who were allegedly denied fair career advancement under the Awami League administration. The committee recommended retrospective promotions for 764 retired officers who had missed out on deserved benefits.
