Aggressive behavior of the leaders and activists of the current committee of Portugal's Awami League.At various times there have been allegations of fighting with local expats, misbehaving with community dignitaries, lobbying the embassy in the name of passports, cheating in the name of giving jobs. Bangladeshis living in Portugal are fed up with mistreatment of community elders. Recently, one of the worst incidents in the history of Bengali community in Portugal happened.Attack on Portugal Bangla Press Club Founder President Rony Mahmud. Ismail Jewel, Javed Mahmud and Ariz Ali attacked him in front of the local Awami League leaders and activists based on trivial matters where the president and the acting general secretary were present. Many people said that such an attack is really sad because of the instigation of Portugal Awami League leaders.Bangladeshis living in Portugal said that such attacks on journalists are really painful, journalists work as a mirror of society, so we want proper justice for this attack. The civil society living in Portugal issued a statement condemning the attack.Strongly condemning this incident, the civil society leaders said that although Awami League, a traditional organization, has gained reputation in the country and abroad, the reputation of Awami League is being lost in Portugal for some people. The leaders are demanding permanent expulsion from the group and exemplary punishment of defamatory workers.President of the Sahitya Sangsad Enamul Haque said that we will not do any such thing on foreign soil that will spoil the reputation of our country and the reputation of a traditional organization can never be spoiled for a handful of people. And requested to take organizational action.Many Bangladeshis living in Portugal feel that the lack of strong leadership of Portugal's Awami League has allowed such miscreants to get away with it and tarnish the party's image.
