United People's Bangladesh (UP Bangladesh), a new political platform formed under the leadership of Ali Ahsan Zonaed, a key figure in the July Movement, was officially launched through a public ceremony at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Friday afternoon, May 9.Zonaed, former joint convener of the National Citizens Committee, and Arefin Mohammad Hizbullah were made convener and member secretary of the platform respectively, while Rafe Salman Rifat was named as chief coordinator, Nayeem Ahmed as chief organiser and Sharin Sultana Era as spokeswoman.In the launching programme, UP Bangladesh announced a 82-member central committee.The father of martyr Wasim, who was killed during the July Movement in 2024, attended the ceremony.
