Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said there should be no walls of division based on religion, asserting that his party aspires to build a new Bangladesh united with people of all faiths.Shafiqur made these remarks during an exchange of views organized by the Jamaat-e-Islami in the meeting hall of the upazila parishad in Barlekha, Moulvibazar, on Monday."We were born in this country and are dignified citizens by birth. Our Bangladesh is formed by the followers of all religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. We aspire to build a new Bangladesh united with people of all faiths," he said.
Shafiqur added: "This is not just about me; it reflects the plight of many. We have not been allowed to live normally. I am neither a thief, a robber, a land grabber, nor an extortionist; I am not a murderer or a criminal. Why have I been sent to jail multiple times? This is not just my story; countless others have faced similar experiences."
"We have not been allowed to share in the joys and sorrows of society. Nevertheless, wherever I have received news of suffering people across Bangladesh, I have tried to stand by them."
