
At least 19 people have died in the Bangladesh Air Force plane crash that struck Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday, July 21, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.Fire Service Director General Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal confirmed the updated death toll during a press briefing at the crash site, adding that more than 150 critically injured individualshave been admitted to hospitals across the capital.The Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into the Haider Hall canteen of the school around 1:30pm, triggering a massive fire that engulfed parts of the campus. The plane had taken off at 1:06pm for a routine training mission.Eyewitnesses reported chaos and panic as students, teachers, and staff fled the burning building. Army personnel and locals rushed to evacuate the injured, many of whom suffered severe burns.
The Fire Service deployed nine units to control the blaze, while two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were dispatched to maintain order and assist in rescue operations.
Three students – Junayet, Tanvir, and Fatema – were among the first confirmed fatalities, with dozens more in critical condition at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the National Burn Institute.
