BNP has urged the interim government to immediately announce a clear roadmap for holding a free, fair and inclusive general election by December this year.Speaking at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Tuesday (May 27), the party’s Standing Committee Member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said the people expect the highest priority from the current government to be a credible election and formation of a representative parliament.He warned that if the government fails to prioritise this, it will be difficult for the BNP, as a party of the people, to continue cooperating with the interim authority.

Referring to public aspirations following the July movement by students and citizens, he said the restoration of democratic, constitutional and voting rights has become the most urgent national issue.

“To meet this demand, we call for a clearly defined roadmap without delay so that a new parliament can be formed through a fair election by December,” Dr Mosharraf said.
