BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that his party will return to the streets if necessary, claiming that a targeted social media campaign is being used to spread propaganda against the BNP and delay elections. He urged party leaders and activists to remain vigilant against both domestic and international conspiracies, emphasising that BNP stands solely for Bangladesh—not India, Pakistan, or the United States.Fakhrul made these remarks on Saturday (March 29) afternoon while distributing Eid gifts to underprivileged people in Beraid area near Madani Avenue of Dhaka."We must stay prepared. Plots are being hatched at home and abroad to once again rob you of your voting rights. We will not let that happen—this is clear. Stay alert, stay watchful. The conspiracies haven’t ended. We will establish a people’s government by thwarting all schemes, InshaAllah."Fakhrul iterated BNP's stance on fair elections, stating that while the party is not currently taking to the streets, it will not hesitate to mobilize if obstacles arise against the people's interests.
"We are not hitting the streets yet. Right now, we are with the people—supporting them with Eid and Iftar items, standing by their side in times of joy and sorrow. But if any obstacles are created against the people's interests, BNP will take to the streets again. We know how to claim our rights through movements—so be ready."
Fakhrul dismissed any attempts to divide the party through foreign influence, asserting that BNP's politics is deeply rooted in the people of Bangladesh.
"No one can mislead us. No one can mislead the people of Bangladesh. We are not for India, Pakistan, America, or England—we are for Bangladesh. Our leader Tarique Rahman has made it clear: Bangladesh first. We are Bangladeshis, and we will protect our country's interests above all else."
Criticising the ruling Awami League government, Fakhrul alleged that 90% of BNP leaders and activists have been jailed, while thousands have faced persecution.
"Sheikh Hasina’s government has killed about 20,000 of our leaders and activists. Around 1,700 have been forcibly disappeared. False cases have been filed against 6 million people—such oppression is rare in democratic history."
He expressed faith in divine justice, stating: "Through Allah’s miraculous power, one day Hasina will simply disappear. People will be free from the suffering she has inflicted."
The Eid gift distribution event was organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP (Ward 42) at Beraid Eidgah Ground, Madani Avenue, Badda, Dhaka.
The program was presided over by Metropolitan North BNP Joint Convener Tahirul Islam Tuhin, with speeches from Metropolitan North Convener Aminul Haque and BNP Minority Affairs Secretary MA Qayyum.
