CA’s special assistant Aminul Islam resigns

The Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Md Aminul Islam, who held the position with the rank of State Minister at the Ministry of Education, has resigned.He submitted his resignation letter to the office of the Chief Adviser on Monday, as he informed journalists.However, he declined to disclose the reason for his resignation. It is reported that Aminul Islam resigned following advice from the top level of the government. On August 5, amid the mass uprising of students and the public, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India. On the same day, the cabinet was dissolved. The following day, August 6, the President dissolved the 12th National Parliament. The interim government took the oath on August 8, with Dr. Muhammad Yunus assuming the role of Chief Adviser. At that time, 16 advisers were appointed, though three advisers, who were abroad, took the oath later. Four more advisers joined the interim government, with the latest additions made on November 10 when three more advisers joined.

On that day, Aminul Islam, Khoda Bakhsh Chowdhury, and Dr Syedur Rahman were appointed as Special Assistants to Chief Adviser with the rank of State Minister. Aminul Islam was assigned the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud was serving as an adviser to both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Planning.

On March 4, news spread that Aminul Islam would be appointed as an adviser. However, he did not assume the position. The following day, March 5, CR Abrar, a former professor at Dhaka University and a human rights activist, took the oath as a new advisor to the interim government. He was later given the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud was assigned only the responsibility of the Ministry of Planning.
