Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division, has resigned from his position.He submitted his resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration on December 8. On December 9, the letter was forwarded to the Chief Adviser and subsequently accepted, according to the ministry. Momen cited "personal" reasons for his resignation.However, Momen is likely to be appointed as the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), with sources indicating that the President may make the appointment on Wednesday (December 10). Throughout his career, Abdul Momen has held several significant positions, including Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Gafargaon in Mymensingh, Assistant Private Secretary and Director at the Prime Minister’s Office during Khaleda Zia’s tenure, Deputy Director of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, Additional District Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) in Cox’s Bazar, Director of the Department of Social Welfare, District Commissioner of Dhaka, Director of the Department of Land Records and Survey, Chief Executive Officer of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation, Executive Director of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Board, Chairman of the BRTA, and Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
In 2009, while serving as an Additional Secretary, Momen was forced into retirement by the then Awami League government.
After the fall of the Awami League government, Momen was appointed Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division on a two-year contract on August 17. He was also given responsibility for the Safety Services Division.
